A 10.5 mile hike from Ambleside YHA via Sweden Bridge. A few inches of snow from Scandale Pass to the trig slowed progress but a beautifully clear sunny day all the way. Returned via Snarker Pike ridge.

Visited on Sunday 14th Aug but no signal. Steep climb up from Kirkstones Inn with Abdul. Very warm. Grand views. Trig is a nice local stone effort in good condition. First of a few days visit to the Lakes.

Five Birketts today and a superb circular walk in very fine company from Hartsop. All very quiet on the hills apart from Red Screes. So car park + weekend = a fair few people whom we met on the path when descending. Gifted to June Spencer (Peggy) who is retiring from The Archers aged 103 years old. Blimey.

Repeat visit during a big day over to Fairfield from the head of Kirkstone Pass. Very different weather to last time I was up here, brutally cold easterly wind and a solid ground freeze above 2200'. Gloriously clear, fantastic views in all directions.

I had van camped in the car park opposite the inn at the top of the Kirkstone Pass and decided to do a pre-breakfast dash to bag this trig, a mile and a thousand feet up then down. Glad I did Superb location and wonderful views.

Parked in the inn car park an a direct scramble strate up from the car a few loose rocks an shingle but not to dangerous snow in the gullys made them tricky the higher up we got perfect 360 views at the top quick ice skate on the well frozen tarn befor the safer path route back

The weather forecast said heavy cloud so decided to stay low down, but when drove away from the hotel all the tops were clear so it was back to plan A , Red Screes from Kirkstone pass. The summit of the pass was in cloud but it didn't take much walking to get above the cloud. All the cloud was in the valleys and no wind. Lovely and sunny on the top and clear for miles.

Parked north of Brothers Water at Cow Bridge. Circuit: Scandale Pass - Red Screes - Middle Dodd - Scandale Pass - Little Hart Crag - High Hartsop Dodd. Cloud at first, but cleared to give superb views. Noise of red deer rutting above Hartsop Hall. Stopped to have a look at the well-preserved earthworks of the Iron Age just south of Hartsop Hall settlement.

A hard climb and the footpath from the wooden stile is impossible to find! At 776m this is well worth the visit due to incredoble scenery alround. Did it on a cloudy but dry summers day.

This being my 100th logged pillar for Trigpointing, I wanted a good one.Red Screes is my favourite sunset top ,having been up a few times from Kirkstone Inn.Criterion required; a quick ascent, magnificent views from 2500 feet (especially the Scafell/Gable profile on the skyline), beautiful sunset and a hasty descent for well earned refreshment before the light gives up.

From Kirkstone Pass Inn. First hill on a 13-mile round of 9, ending up in Ambleside. Nice stone-built pillar; top cap missing, no plug; RHS sight hole open. Extensive panorama opened up as I wrote a note, then cloud came in as quick.

Up from Kirkstone pass, liking the well constructed path up the side of the fell. Horrendously cold day but set off in bright sunshine. Hit freezing low patchy cloud at the pillar. Plug missing other wise all metal work intact. Suspect I would of scored higher had it been a clear summit! GPS navigation back to Scandale Pass and return back down the valley to Ambleside.

A glorious and reasonably easy walk up from Ambleside (Uni CP is cheaper and less jarring), Sweden Bridge then up the coll. Lake District Fells all visible despite a short sharp shower, nice to see sights from nearer home too - Pendle and the Pennine.

Parked below in the car park when I realised there was a trig nearby. The gps said trig was 560 metres away so off I went. That's the toughest 560m I've ever done virtually vertical up and down took 1.45 hrs lovely shame the letterbox has gone. Visited the geocache. Lovely

Spectacular 8 mile circular in perfect clear and sunny conditions from Ambleside onto Red Screes and down and up onto Little Hart Crag, back down to Ambleside along what was one of the wettest paths we've walked the Scandale Path, there has been so much rain recently so all the little becks were rivers. The day before walked on Hart Side, Green Side, Stybarrow Dodd, Great Dodd and Clough Head, the day before that we'd done Souther Fell, Bannerdale Crags, Bowscale Fell, Great Mell Fell, Little Mell Fell and Gowbarrow Fell. Great 3 days.

Seemed to spend an age walking down hill from the car park to turn this into a circular walk and bag some caches on the way. So glad to finally reach the trigpoint and be rewarded with some views, lovely day which ended with a nice pint of Kirkstone black in the pub.

My final Wainwright. climbed with the penultimate top of Middle Dodd. snowline about 3/4 way up and the wind..wow.. some serious funnelling going on.. was struggling to even stand at one point. but past the summit of M.D. was not so bad. a glorious if not freezing summit and that was that..

Would you believe a mate wanted to go on a day like this with driving wind and torrental rain,had to cut round to just red screes and middle dodd.Its been over five years since i was last here in sunny conditions trig in vgc missing plug stamped lettering on spider got a proper soaking today ambleside packed with bargain hunters today in the sales.

Started out from Cow Bridge Car Park at 05.40am and walked through sleepy Hartsop then via Grey Crag above a perfect cold air inversion then via Thornthwaite Carg, Stony Cove Pike, St Raven's Edge and Kirkstone Pass Inn to get to Red Screes before returning via Scandale Pass and Hartsop Hall. A perfect morning walk under cloudless skies.

Completed 7.5 mile round walk from Ambleside (up via 'The Struggle' and back through Scandale pass/ valley and past 'Sweden Bridge'). Very quiet despite being a sunny day over Easter break. Fabulous views from summit. Shorter but steeper route wld be via Kirkstone Inn.

Large free car park to west side of A592 summit at NY401080, Kirkstone Pass. Followed the footpath shown in black on the 1:25K map via NY397083. That path continues to top. It is currently in the process of being upgraded. Stonebuilt secondary station pillar in good condition. Completed in September 1949 costing £18.19s.5d. Spider centre open but centre pipe filled with debris. Flush bracket faces 247° WSW. Vented through sight hole on SE face. 360° panorama lost to low cloud and drizzle on day of visit.

Very airy trig this one its a long way down to the kirkstone inn! Trig in great nick numbers in FB picked out in gold paint,someone really looks after this one.Done on a round of High hartsop Dodd,Little Hart Crag North and South tops and Middle Dodd on the way down magnificent views here!

A quick nip up from the Kirkstone Pass Inn. An hour and 8 minutes there and back. Took the maps footpath up - the gill is a bit scary. Followed the more worn path down - much easier. Absolutely amazing views!!!! Me, Bec 776m

Me and Bec at the Trig With a Gorilla-pod wedged between the rock and my huge North Face bum bag the camera stayed steady in the wind!

A first taste of what will hopefully be a proper winter season for a change - bitter winds and sub-zero temps made for a superb frost show on the trig pillar. Came up the incredibly steep Middle Dodd to the finger-numbing cold on the summit. Great spot - all alone but sadly no views with the cloud down. Another milestone: My 150th pillar

Visited on a high level walk from Ambleside to Patterdale, visiting this summit, Little Hart Crag, Dove Crag, Hart Crag and Hartsop above Howe. A long day but a lovely end, with the walk down the ridge to Patterdale in the late afternoon sun. The meal and pint in the White Lion was well earned.

Fabulous location except we couldn't see any views by the time we got here, due to mist, which became torrential rain for the rest of our 7 mile walk from Brothers Water. Never mind, it was great to reach the summit after looking up there from the Kirkstone Pass so many times.

Puffed and panted our way up to this one to do the geocache alongside – the trig was a bonus! Rather more people up here than normal because there was a checkpoint on a mountain relay race. Weather could’ve been better and given us views, but we enjoyed our walk!
