Did a doubler and went onto Bromley Muir. Took the train to Renton station, crossed the bypass, then took a gentle path up to the Trig. Lovely views.

Bagged this as a double with the Bromley Muir Trig, using the same car park outside the Trout Fishery across from Carman Reservoir. Descended the John Muir Way from Bromley Muir, crossed Cardross Road and followed tracks South-East along the pylon lines. The pillar is over a gate in the second stone-walled field on your right. The panorama is a bit of an anti-climax after Bromley Muir, but still good views over the Clyde and down towards Dumbarton Rock.

From same parking spot as for Bromley Muir. Good track most of the way, field gate at NS 3724 7835. Centre cap gone, replaced with asphalt plug; all sight holes open. Extensive views south and east to Clyde estuary and Dumbarton.

Good views of the Clyde at trig and beyond. Field has be churned up around trig.

Second visit. For GPS reading and photographs. SITE VISIT: Carman Muir. Approached from north. Parking for approximately four cars in wide entrance to resr track to north side of public road at NS368788. Near direct route SE across rough boggy ground until the last 150m turning SW to top. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces SE, ~124°. All sight holes open, innards filled with debris. Full 360° panoramic view which will be lost to the northwest once the recently planted woods on the adjacent plot take hold.

Easy and pleasant walk from Carman road. Great views across the Clyde. Also visited the tiny rivet benchmark (RV0771) on a stone post at corner of field.

Good condition pillar on a fairly uninspiring moor above Cardross. FB faces west-ish with all sightholes open but blocked internally. Cap missing but asphalt plug present. Excellent views along the firth. Parked at the works road entrance with easy walk across.

The cap is filled with all sights open. Tussocky route from the NorthWest road leads to a good view over Dumbarton and right down the Clyde. Another wee wave back at home. :D

Good spot for viewing up and down the Clyde, towards the Trossachs and to majestic peaks in the west. No bovine security detail today! (Walked up from the very interesting gutted sixties seminary building at NS352784 which is well worth a visit.)
