FB Number: Not logged  Condition: Good  Score: 5/10

Parked along Gag Lane and followed the footpath East towards a farm, then South through a number of fields. Had to detour from the path over a couple of gates towards the trig. The last obstacle is a dry stone wall with a barbed wire fence on the other side. There are no obvious gates along this boundary, but there are a couple of sections where the wall has collapsed leaving clear access to the fence. I used an old towel to protect against spikes as I squeezed between the barbed wire strips, and the wire fence (I attempted to step over, but I'm not quite tall enough and the wire fence was too flimsy). Not my favourite adventure by far. For the return journey we headed back to the footpath and followed it SE for a short while, using the nearby footpath to return to Gag Lane and back to the car. The views in the distance were decent, but I think I've been spoiled by a number of recent trigs. Only one set of cows on our visit - in a small field directly next to the farm. They were relaxed and let us pass without issue.

What I thought to be my last of the Peak District 88...Parked by an open-gated entrance against a wall corner at GR 159 526...Climbing the wall stile to the right & taking a wide berth of a herd of cows, proceeded uphill thro' a metal gate & passing thro' & across an open-gated field, located the trig across a wall & fence. Had spoken to Mr Farmer in his tractor early on en-route who advising me there were no footpaths, nevertheless granted me permission to pursue the trig so long as I was careful about his walls. Fair enough & I was only having to overcome the wall & fence by the trig & that was an un-complicated straddle. Back home post a 6 trig forage, spending much time going thro' a print out of The Peak District 88, I dis-heartedly discovered I was 5 amiss. Oh well they'll keep for another day & more importantly perhaps this particular trig was my 600th!
