Pulled over beside farm track entrance, part of bridleway. First looked in field to south east then decided to look in field on north west side of crossing. A few metres north of the track it was easy to get to the other , west, side of the hedge. Pillar then visible beside but not in the hedge. Cap missing. Etched FB like many in this part of the county, sad. Views to west across field.

There is pull in just passed it and you need to walk back along the road to get into the field to find it. Great all round views, including Hardy's Monument to the SW.

Roadside, easy access, a metre in from hedgerow, but prone to the ever creeping ivy. Spent 5 minutes clearing both ivy and bramble. Original cap in place, deeply indented lettering; front, rear and LHD side sight holes sealed, RHD side undetermined. Another Dorset pillar with panoramic views.

Like desparate dan I agree arriving by car feels like cheating, but on this occasion we walked up from Higher Bockhampton. Good condition with plug in place, thanks to whoever has completely cleared the trig of ivy, and easy access from the road. A bit hazy so views not great (undoubtedly the great smog which has alledgedly afflicted these isles lately in all our great weather!).

Pillar situated in field close to the `ridgeway` LDF.Not terribly easy as nettles have grown across the gap into the field and I was wearing shorts!!

The pillar is sited on the edge of an arable field with a six inch high crop. Close by there is a handy gap in the hedge to enable access from the road; the Ridge Way bridleway crosses the road nearby. It has a metal cap with deep lettering and is partially covered in ivy which was hiding the FB S6074. Puddletown Forest is to the southeast; power lines cross Bincombe Hill to the south; the Hardy Monument to the southwest; Crete Hill to the west; the downland rises towards Cerne Abbas Resr in the north and Higher Hill is to the northeast.

West side of the B3143 where Ridgeway (bridleway) crosses. Pillar rather covered in ivy. Retains plug, deep indented lettering. Reasonable views to N,S & W.

Original plug with deeply-indented letters. No paint, sightholes covered in vegetation. On the side of a lane in hedgerow on side of arable field. Good all-round views.
