After visiting the Wellington Monument headed south then south east through Ashculme, narrow and wet lanes. Uphill after crossing the river Culm, very narrow and potholed lane came up to Fourways House, stopped to check map and someone in the garden asked if I was lost. I said I was heading for Ridgewood Hill and said this was Fourways House so knew was where I wanted to be. Turned east and gained a little more height. Pulled in on north side of road opposite start of footpath. Through gate, path was signed to west along hillside but felt like heading directly uphill. Through dead ferns and low brambles, fairly steep. Then a flatter grassy area. Continued to wall and hedge to south. Climbed over and spotted pillar on plinth about a hundred metres further south on next field wall boundary. Across sheep pasture, they were watching me and up onto next wall. Cap plugged. Removed ivy from pillar and as much soil and other build up around base as I could. Fairly good views of farmland around. Way back was to head west, good views opened up towards Hemyock. Then around outside of field and back down hill to rejoin original footpath around hill.

Had fun looking around trying to find it, great views across green fields and pasture. Quiet area and tucked away, and it was on top of an old stone wall with brambles around it, not that it mattered as one could probably climb up.

Second of the morning on the warmest Feb day on record. As for "slateloose". Easy yomp up through felled bracken to a pleasantly green field with great views to the NW across to Culmstock Beacon and the Wellington Monument.

Parked north of trig at start of footpath. Walk through gate at base of hill directly south up the hill towards trig . Gate at top of hill open into trig field. It's little bit difficult to get on top of the hedge to take photo's.
