Fourth of 8 on a cycle ride W of Nottingham. Easily spotted but not accessible from FP, so followed previous advice and nipped over gate near The Nook house and nipped up to to trig, it's at the third of three trees at the top of the hill. Views S/SE. On to High Acre.

Over the gate on the left before you get to the footpath you think you need off to the left (coming up from the main road through Risley). Hes been bashed round a little, needs some love and TLC.

Walked up from Derby Rd after parking near the Church - used the PROW which follows a little stream and eventually head down over the little bridge up the footpath(mudpath) to reach the trig. unfortunately its on the other side of the fence with the FB facing South. All metalwork intact. but big bite out of one side. View to the South. Returned back to parking spot using PROW to SE of TP much better route. Note School pickup time - parking not good!

Handy gate and electric fence separating the pillar from the main field containing horses. Damaged about 1/3 the way up probably by farm equipment and leaning to the east probably due to the proximity of the large tree.

Parked on the main road; should have driven up the bridle way. Failed to follow any advice and went up the footpath the wrong side of the fence. Very cold - temp showed 14C in the car, but the wind must've knocked it down because it was icy. Trig looked in good nick from my peer over the hedge. I will return on a warmer day...

Neatly mown strip between hedge and electriv horse fence gives access up field after a jump over a gate/fence. Trig reasonably open as summer growth hasn't built up yet. Visible from FP side which has the nicer view though shows it is surrounded by higher land to the North.

The tree interests me. Obviously not there when they put the pillar up about 70 years ago. But I'll bet it was germinating whilst the concrete was still setting - it is a 70 year old tree if ever I saw one. Despite the cover, the farmer still managed to bite a chunk out of the pillar, I'd say - a tractor is a good bet.

Bus to Risley onto footpath opposite Risley Park Hotel,good for food.Nice route up working of grid ref on GPS no map,over fence Pillar almost hidden in hedge chunk missing of corner.Good views to power station,humid after morning rain,off to next one on lane at Stapleford.

This one was just un-reachable, tried to climb through the hedge but was attacked by a large swarm of Green Flys, decided to retreat and try access the trig from the adjacent field, but was stopped by a Farmer working in this field, will return later this year when not so overgrown.

Easy walk up from the church. Hidden in the hedge but can see it better from the south side. Condition quite good apart from a huge chunk missing out of the side. Probably, another trig hit by a tractor.

After the last one, this was a gift! Easy to spot at this time with no leaves about. Nasty chunk out of the pillar - probably [as said in previous logs] by a hedge trimmer. Easy access off a public path. Radcliffe Power Station clearly in view plus some of suburban Nottingham.

Pillar is easily accessible from public footpath, although it is obscured by a hedge. This has contributed to the quite severe damage to one corner, probably hedge cutting.
