Concrete ring with 2 inch bolt, under cairn 30cm down. Just need to lift out large centre stone then a few smaller stones underneath. Initially confusing as cairn in sketch is grassy mound 6.8m to SE with boundary stone: sketch then makes sense and leads to cairn. Dismantled centre of cairn quickly revealed a stone with a red arrow, with edge of CR soon revealed and bolt dug out without further dismantling needed. Cairn rebuilt, hollow with arrowed stone approx where it was.

Arrowed stone was a nice clue

Trig looking SE 6.8m to cairn in sketch, actually grassy mound with embedded boundary stone
Alignment to Mam Mor trig pillar as per sketch, with the referenced power pole to L
Cairn rebuilt GPS marks the spot. Lift off this large stone and a few small stones directly below to find the CR trig

Fully intended to have a serious hunt for this, given the OS sketch seemed so detailed... but I hadn't factored in the weather. After a fine day to about 2pm the heavens opened and that's the way it stayed until early evening. Parked at NS 2516 8109, walked the track to the comms mast, slipped through the deer gate and to top of hill. Didn't take any tools with me given wind and rain. I think there's a good chance of this one being found though. Pacing and GPS gives it about 2m south of the pile of stones.

Sketch? Check. Tent pegs? Check. Large metal stake? Check. Two survey tapes? Check. Spade? Check. Berntsen-sniffing child? Check. Twenty five deer standing on top of the point? ...Check... So....still no joy. As remarked in an earlier log, actually worth the walk for the view. Absolutely stellar!

Equipped for digging but didnt like to linger as it seems to still be a deer farm - 2 standing at top of Gallow Hill.

Well buried, not equipped for holediggery, as this visit was last minute on account of getting blown off the local hills... Pleasant spot, a sunny break between the squalls. Getting to it was a hassle, it was once a deer farm, and the only gate in was down at the TV mast. Good views except for the mast of the Luss Hills, Cowal, Helensburgh , Greenock and the Clyde. Worth the walk.
