Walked up to this while doing the 'Big Cat' geocaching series. After getting to the trig and taking a photo, the farmer spotted me. I said I was now heading for the road, and he gave me a lift down to the farm on his tracter. It wasn't far at all - but my first ride on a tractor.

Attained from the minor road running south westwards from the village of Warton. Parked just passed the farm gate and walked SW. Onto a narrow track uphill into the quarry. Just before the quarry head strike up to the R over a wood slat fence into a field which bore strong evidence of being recently occupied by cows with loose bowels (apologies to Michael Green for stealing that descriptive phrase but I've always wanted to use it). Follow the field boundary and climb obliquely up a cattle eroded slope to a gate into a field and continue uphill. At this point the bullocks occupying the field showed too much interest in me and I hopped over another fence into a wheat field. Follow edge to another fence which leads into the summit copse of trees, through to the other side, through a gate and across a small field with horsey things in it. To the left is a fenced off area with what looks like a small distribution reservoir. Go through a metal gate towards the reservoir and the pillar is in the hedge line. Painted white! Now I know why - Garth's been with his paint pot. Flush Bracket is on the facing NW. Views down to Polesworth are seen over the tater field and farm buildings rapidly disappearing into glowering rain clouds. The return trip was spiced up by the bullocks again.

We took the same route as Rhayader Wanderer and arrived at the track that heads up from the farm with no problems. The narrow strip of land, which has a series of jumps on it, seems to be well walked as R W says, but it is not a public right of way. The house at the end of it where you leave the public footpath is being done up and we noticed a load of fencing timber so it might not be as easily accessible for long. On arriving at the farm track there was a lady in the field opposite clearing up horse droppings so we had to approach her to get permission to visit the pillar, She was very friendly and even helped me look for it. The plastic bales have receded since Father Teds visit and it was behind the front one on the north side. The trig looks as though it has been painted a bluey-purple colour in the past. Plug with indented lettering.

This surprisingly must rank as one of the toughest trigs I have found. I gained permission from the farm to walk up to the trig and walked up the track at the back of the farm and turned right just before the gate. The trig ended up being wedged between a load of round bale silage and some thick brambles. I needed my GPS in earnest here. Eventually I found it and peeled back the brambles to reveal a grey painted trig with everything intact.
