Parked at bottom of North Moor Lane and from there it was a relative short hop to the top. Brought Valerie up here to help her reminisce her time at Huddersfield Poly (as it was) 40 years ago. Impressed that the landowners had embraced the pillar with a memorial seat; not that you'd want them around every pillar- but one is nice.

A short walk along the PROW from the roadside this pillar has views in all directions of the semi rural area. At the time of my visit the sheep were curious and very friendly. The pillar is in generally good condition and retains the original centre for the spider. It has a professional made and fitted circular bench in memory of a previous farmer at that location.

As others have done, I parked on Moorside Road despite there being just enough room outside the gates to North Moor Lane. It is a short walk up the hill on the ROW to the summit and the trig. The pillar has been adopted by the landowner and made a feature of, adorned in a metal seat as a memorial to a predecessor farmer. I'd personally prefer the trig left alone, but I suppose the seat will protect the pillar - it's already got a crack almost through it. It has an original cap but the flush bracket has been painted blue for some reason. The weather was ferocious, but the stunning views in all directions were worth it - a superb trig to visit. I returned the same way.

(2051) Meadow Park for parking, though the farm entrance is more than adequate for that purpose. RoW takes you directly to the pillar. A few sheep in the field today, so watch out for their droppings! The pillar, since around 2019, has a circular memorial bench around it. Not my cup of tea to be honest, but all the relevant parts of the pillar are still visible. In overall good condition, though a not insubstantial crack runs across several sides close to the base. Pillar history: Built on the 6th of May 1937, at a cost of £4 8s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in October of 1985.

Two horses were guarding the pillar, we startled the white one which came over but once used to us did not hinder inspection of the pillar, which had an OS plug and a blue painted FB. Too mirky for the views which would have been good over Castle Hill towards West Nab and Black Hill. Great little trig with tremendous views almost all round and just off a public right of way ... In need of a bit of TLC but hanging in there. Strange tombstones embedded in the edge of knoll to the SW? Anybody know what they are?

Fantastic 360 degree long distance views. The trig is on an interesting knoll with two stones on the edge. I don't know the significance of the stones or the name Roundabout.

Prominently situated on hilltop; the name has (thankfully) nothing to do with vehicular roundabouts. Easily spotted from over a mile away and a simple detour from a right of way. Good views all round: Ovenden moor, Calder valley, lower Aire valley, Huddersfield and the Pennines towards Holme Moss.
