My Munro #278 climbed alone. I needed to bag the Fisherfield 'Six' (as were) before 28th of July which was going to be my combined 50th Birthday and Munro Compleation Party. With 40 friends invited to that event, this trip could not fail! So I set off early in the morning from Poolewe and by late afternoon had made it to the outfall of the Lochan Feith Mhic'-illean where I pitched the tent, then free from the backpack made a quick dash up A' Mhaigdean and Ruadh Stac Mor in what had become after a lovely day, disappointingly claggy conditions. Retreated back to the tent and next day completed the remaining Four of Six, resistance being futile...

Stonebuilt, 2 top loops but no spider: either top repaired or there never was a spider. Great summit and view. Unplanned visit - original plan was just Chaisgein Beag, but I was there by 0930 and on Creag-mheall Mor by 1130. With a lot of day left I unfolded the map and realised that the impressive-looking Ruadh Stac Mor was probably doable so I headed there over a string of Sims / Graham Tops then back via 2 more Graham Tops and Beinn Chaisgein Mor - a superb 15 hour, 14 summit, 27 mile day.

End of a long day in Fisherfield. Had camped down in Strath na Sealga the night before and set off early to do the six Munros. Lots of ups and downs and not a soul seen all day! An impressive place but the clouds were down for half the day so navigation had to be good (no GPS, takes the fun out it) and missed some classic views. Stone built trig with spider missing, strange eyelets and a large splodge of concrete on top. Looks like the temporary efforts to repair have failed. Never mind, only another three hours back to the midge infested meadow where the tent is tucked away

A struggle against verglas. Everything covered by freezing drizzle including myself. Every step slippery and it was getting dark. I recall it being stone built. Strange to find a pillar here, for years the area was badly mapped and this hill was one of several munros left off the map until the 1970's. A winter visit was quite a prize.
