It would be hard to imagine a less distinguished 'beacon'... but if you're a hill bagger, it's a 'tick' !

Sad, but lovely sunset over rape seed field and gathered various lumps of chalk from the field boundary near where the trig was. Felt moved to fantasise about idea of building a fabulous a new trig sculpture there. Shame that the tumulus hasn't remained and been respected at all.

Nothing there. Not dumped on the bridleway or road edge. May be worth a look in the patch of trees in the centre of the field but no time for that.

Passed the site of Rudston Beacon on the way to Westfield everything ploughed away now but did find a piece of iron bar that looked like one of the hooks from the top of the trigpoint.

Possible location visible as a slight mound inside field entrance. Still shown on 2005 edition of Explorer 301.

Probably was on a field boundary, a trace of which remains. Good views but no trig. A previous visit on 2 July 1995 and was not there then. Number was S6370 in OS records. Site revisited 26 May 2008 14:15.
