I was fortunate enough to be working on the telecoms tower located within the grounds of the reservoir. The pillar has been converted into a block.

The pillar went along time back to be replaced by the block. I accessed via Prince's Coverts and the clay pigeon shoot to reach the inner compound. In my youth I may have tried to scale the fence but not today. The block is in the same position as the old pillar which puts it in the north part of the compound and off centre to the east a bit. The OS database gives its height as 0.1m. From the north of the compound in the clay pigeon area with binoculars I thought I could make out the stub of a block. Might be wishful thinking but enough to make me think the block still survives.

Inaccessible from the road. Heading a few hundred yards south and then through some woodlands got me to the west of the site but barbed wire persuaded me not to go any further.

I'm guessing the site is to the right of the water tower behind the trees at centre.©wandern
Site behind the trees? You can just make out the slope of the hill.©wandern

I didn't have much hope for this one.It isn't shown on my 1970 1 inch or 1976 Second Series 50K. They show a raised area which I think is probably a covered reservoir as this is a Thames Water site.As the gate had 'Security Patrols' and 'Video Surveillance' notices I didn't go further.

Block (not remains of old pillar). OS trig archive says: "Dest 01/61. Replaced by block 11/61" ... with same name, reference and co-ords to the millimetre - presumably resr rebuilt/extended in 1961 with new Block cast into top surface. Converted not quite right as it's a new Marker, but same trig station. Fence not so pointy in those days IIRC; omitted to log at time.
