Difficult to get to, we climbed the fence by a gat ea bit further along than the Trig, then noticed the squished bit of fence by the bench, at the top of the path from the industrial estate, on our way back out as described in someone else's visit, lol. slightly tricky underfoot working your way through the undergrowth on the railway embankment too.

Approached from Spicers Way and straight onto the Wally Hammond Way cycle path. From this direction the Trig is just after a bench and opposite the path to the industrial estate. The pillar can be seen from the path, about two metres out of reach behind a chain link fence. Getting over the fence is a bit of a chore, but there is a saggy section that allows you to kind of belly flop over (much to the horror of passing dog walkers). Pillar is at the top of a wooded railway embankment and starting to lean ever so slightly down the slope. Don't think it's in any immediate danger of toppling though.

FB Number: S4449  Condition: Slightly damaged  Score: 4/10

Parked bike at east end of business park near what looked like a Highways Agency depot, ‘Pickering's’. There’s a path through onto the cycle path running parallel to the railway line, north west to south east. Next to a bench, looks as if others have clambered over the fence as it is a bit saggy. Headed north west to try and see the pillar on the other side of the fence. Decided to climb over using a fire hydrant plate as a step up. About ten metres further north west the pillar was visible. Next to a fallen tree and ivy growing up it. Wasn’t obvious and was beginning to wonder if had toppled down the embankment. Cleared off most of the ivy. Logged as slightly damaged due to the lean, although doesn’t look likely to slide further down any time soon. No views. Nobody about.
