Initially attempted access from Skeath Lane but realised we couldn't so drove further on and down the farm entrance. Knocked at the farm house to a very nice lady who gave permission and a nice gentleman showed me to the trig (which is pretty much in their garden so please do ask permission). Trig has been moved years ago which is pleasing rather than it being destroyed. Nice people who took an interest in the charity I am trig bagging to raise money for. Signed the visitors book also (which I think is an excellent idea). Really enjoyable trig.

Sixth of six, last trig on the Cannock Chase & Chasewater (Stafford, Rugeley & Cannock) 244 OS map & one that well confused aging StewB. Parked off-road at GR 94425 27823, an area of land 'running' parallel to the B5066 afront a 'handfull' of houses under the assumption that the trig was but a short distance away as marked on the OS map. Of course it wasn't consequence of having been moved to Skeath House Farm. I had the correct grid reference but went searching about its location as marked on the OS map which has not been up-dated. Was all but giving up when I thought let's just have one last try from an access of the track from the side-road South. No joy because I was of course still looking for the trig as OS map marked. Lesson to be learnt, it might be as well to always check that the grid reference on TrigpointingUK & actual position of trig symbol marked on OS map are in agreement! Knocking on the door of a rather splendid looking property Downtop Manor, a very pleasant young girl informed me that the trig was at Skeath House Farm, her in-laws & provided me with directions of how to get there on foot. Jessica had telephoned ahead of my arrival & so knocking on the door at SHF, a most pleasant lady Julie knowing exactly what it was I wanted took me straight to the trig where I signed the 'trig-book'...Suggested by 'trigger' friends of Julie's in Devon, Julie took a picture of StewB & mascot Squeekie aside the trig to send to them. The book's a great idea & a 'novel' way of finishing my trig quest about Stafford. Please see entry under Wolgarston for full six trig walk details.

Luckily I read the previous logs otherwise I would have never found the pillar. On the Bing map it's still in the original location, but on Trigpointinguk app it is in its present position. Bagged during an Antill "Hills & Vales" walk out of Salt. The farmer spotted me and said firmly "you're off the path." Once explaining we'd come to bag the Trig Point he softened and led us to the front door to meet his wife, sign the visitors' book and be shown to the pillar. The black Labrador is extremely friendly. Having advised Julie on autumn raspberry cultivation we took our leave to continue our walk. A very friendly encounter.

Similar experience to THE CYCLIST. Met the farmers father as I was going down the track to the farm, he turned round and took me on a personal tour. He lived at the farm himself until his son took over. Just like Wilf I had about half an hour with him, he's a church warden and chairman of the parish council.

The very friendly farmer directed me round the back and over a gate to the trig and I obtained a photo of the flush bracket number. In conversation, he said he had not nicked it but had contacted the OS to see if they would part with it as it was something of an obstacle when farming. It has been on this site for at least ten years. This one completes all the pillars on map244.

OK chaps here's how to find it! It's in the garden/paddock of Skeath House Fm. Starting from the PH walk down the adjacent lane and over the stile at the end of the lane. Follow the track over the next stile and about 100m turn left over another stile. Follow the hedgerow on the right to the field gate at the corner of the Fm garden/paddock/orchard. Negotiate the gate and you'll find the pillar in a gap in the garden hedge on the left about 20m from the gate. You'll also see an FBM lying on the ground next to the pillar!

Almost certainly a gonner. Recently reported on the trigonomy mailing list as having been dismantled and reerected in a nearby garden- Skeath Farm. Prospective visitors should ask to see it in its new location at the house. Suggest new condition category- relocated. I have upped the interest rating for this one as walking trig pillars are a novelty.
