Looks like it's having a tough time of it. Moody spot - we rerouted the walk because of grouse shoot and ended up walking way too far - but my it was worth it. A splendid strangeness to these lands between the dale and vale. Hundredth log of the year - suitably tough on the head!

Sultry summer Sunday walk of 45 minutes up the track which connects Grewelthorpe with Lofthouse and which is still classed as a highway - a conventional road sign saying 'Lofthouse 7 miles' is where the track leaves the tarmaced road. Trig is just a few hundred yards off the track to the left and easily visible. Original plug still in place but obviously spider partially exposed due to crumbling of the trig top. Young Grouse are quite well advanced now. Decent views North and East

Top damaged. Came up from Ouster Bank trig along the sort of track I hate - wide and stoney - but it takes you within 400 yards of the trig. The final bit was across a patch of alternatiing very dry and very puddley heather moor. The track as shown on the OS map leading most of the way to the trig was non-existant today, other than an initial obvious few feet, forget it. Its heather or water. Additionally the ROW across Langwith Ridge is not evident (or waymarked) either. View, well as the trig sits on a plateau you dont get a lot, south to Stone & Ears is ok but its mainly lonely moorland.
