Parked on grass verge by gate to Sandy Lane at North end. Walked down lane and over field gate to pillar.

Last one of today's 3 trig hike. Accessed trig field via the footpath to the south. Over a fence, was careful to walk in between the crops. Bizarre barbed wire wrap around. Also very high nettles so some gardening required. Got here to see a magnificent sunset. I'll post the pic soon.

Parked just off the roundabout to the south. Through the chest high maize to the trig. Last one for a little while, away to a broken ferry in the Canaries Islands.

Amazed to find I'd been to this one 7 years ago and had noted that even then that it was encased in barbed wire. Now in smaller field just east of new western Congleton by pass and above new housing estate to the east.

New bypass has not stopped access. From field gate off what used to be Sandy Lane, alongside the new road. Pillar still wrapped in barbed wire, which snagged my trousers. Wire first appeared 15 years ago! View east to The Cloud and Crocker Hill (mast, pillar there log gone). Housing estates proliferating, so its days might be numbered. Logged by Keith Stevens

Visited during a couple of days on the Dane Valley Way, which apart form the Buxton-Danebridge strecth isn't much to shout about. This trig isn't much to shout about either. Hopped over the fence from the footpath to access it (no crops in the field), took in the airy views of the new housing estate below. The barbed wire is a lovely touch and gets it a couple of points.

Parked on Field View Road on the new estate. Turned right out of Field View Road onto Sandbach Road. Turned right after around 10 meters on to the public footpath. The pillar is straight ahead, but you need to climb over a fence to get into the field where it is. The pillar is now surrounded by a lot of new housing, and Sandy Lane is being redeveloped to form part of the new Congleton link road. The pillar is still covered in barbed wire

4/7 Bagging trigs on way back to Sheff after dropping Aussie bound son off at M'chester airport. Easy to park near the trig in new estate on Field View Road and do a short walk up the hill after hopping over the fence. Some views. Trig still has some barbed wire wrapped around its base, strange. I've just checked, the first comment on the barbed wire goes back to 3rd October 2009, long may it continue! I like the later description of it being a 'necklace'.

Quick road side trig on a bright but chilly morning. Not sure how long this one will survive with Congleton growing outwards. Housing development approaching from the East!! It does have some defence in place with encircled strand of barbed wire. All metal work intact.

Spotted by chance as I found a closeby geocache; took the opportunity to walk through the open gate and across stubbly field to the pillar; great views on a sunny morning; pillar surrounded by barbed wire - weird !!

Parked on Sandy Lane in small laybye opposite gate into trig field. The field at the moment is maize stubble, so it's an easy walk across to trig point on hill above new housing estate.

This one looked a doddle but the field crop was now about seven feet high since the last visit. I managed to walk through it with very little crop damage and eventually found it still encased in barbed wire. There appears to be new house building in the near distance. Not the best time to visit.

Visited as it appeared on my SatNav as I was driving past. Close to the gate in the field. Surrounded by fading nettles and still covered in barbed-wire. The sweet-corn crop had gone though, so didn't feel bad walking straight to the pillar. Some views. Me, Mum 103m

Easy access from gate by roadside with handy layby for the car. Field housing six rough looking ponies, which is always a worry. They were a bit inquisitive, but no problem. No views to speak of.
