Actually my 2nd visit as I did it during a YHA holiday as a 16 yr old. Spectacular views of mist-clagged valleys on the way up helped to overcome demanding pace. Horrid descent with aching legs! Why is it not called Scafell Pike I wonder??

What an oversight of what was a great achievement of mine to attain the English heights of Sca Fell and Scafell Pike albeit several years ago [sorry cannot remember when]. Stockport Freebird and I had stayed at the wonderful Wasdale Youth Hostel and had driven up and parked at Wasdale Head NT carpark, and then hiked up on a beautiful day [ie too hot for me] in order for me to achieve my ambition of getting to the top of both high points! The trig point as far as I can remember was fine... BUT I have been unable to find a photo for proof [will ask SF] It was however a long and painful downhill walk which I can remember!
