Parked in village of Cockington, bit touristy, but had a tea shop, limited choice of cakes, and a gift shop. Uphill to south west and then west from village, path runs parallel to the lane. After about five hundred metres headed south, down a dip and up the other side, path beside woods to east and field to west. At top of path, over gate and followed field boundary uphill for about three hundred metres. Before reaching trees at top, spotted pillar in hedge. Through gate a few metres further on to get to north side for better access. Cows in field lower down so ok at the time. Reasonable views to north. On low plinth, cap missing. A little bit of gardening to tidy up.

Easily accessed, I reached this trig from the north and Totnes Road, switching to the east side of the wall to get to the pillar. It is probably easier from this direction, though the wood is certainly possible.

I arrived in the vicinity of this trig by following a series of woodland paths. The last 50m or so follows a field boundary and make sure you are on the north side of the hedge! This is a fairly average trig but the views make up for it. Torbay looks quite nice from this distance!

I would (humbly) suggest that the denuded area (and the reddish colour discussed in the previous visit) is from cattle *using* the pillar. Wide views over most of Torbay, and out to sea.

This one requires a bit of a climb, but being in the Torbay area, the views are tremendous. The pillar is next to a hedge about 40ft into a field. This one appears to be made out of the local reddish limestone rather than the more usual concrete. Quite unusual in that respect. Cap is intact and pillar in good condition.
