i may well be the last person to be up there at this trig before the wind farm is completed i was allowed to use the construction site road all the way up, this area will be a huge wind farm very soon, it was my final trig point on the shetland mainland on a beautifull sunny day

Wind farm being built This area will be covered in windmills soon

Parked at the Burn of Lunklet car park. Followed the track up the burn as far as we could. Then headed up the hill passed the lock of Lunklet. The ground was boggy, heathery and wet. This was a steep climb! We were rewarded with magnificent panoramic views at the top.

I parked on the grass verge of the road just below Upper Kergord. A handy gate gave access to a grass field and I headed west up the hill following a small burn which turns NW. I crossed over onto the moorland and walked in a northwesterly direction over a ridge and round a valley with a final steep climb to the relatively flat summit. There is a fair amount of peat erosion on the hill but the pillar seems safe for now. FB faces SSE; WSW sighthole open, others plugged; metal cap with raised letters. Cold today - 8C - and a fresh westerly wind made it feel even colder up on the hill. Great views in all directions but there was a dark area of rain approaching fast so I left the summit in a bit of a hurry! I'd got about halfway back by the time the rain started lashing down; thankfully I found a peat bank (I seem to be making friends with these! - see Bard Head TP10407) to shelter behind for 10 minutes while the heavy shower - which included hail - passed over. The area is soon to be in the middle of the huge Central Shetland Wind Farm - construction due to begin next year. This will likely make it easier to get to the pillar but will probably detract from the views!

Started up the Burn of Lunklet and found it hard going because of the conditions, very wet under foot and ice, an inch thick in places, probably below zero at the top. As usual recently, white hares seen. Clear day in most directions but rain/hail clouds moving north up the west coast.

First climbed this in Aug 04 and aproached from Burn of Lunklet. Have tried twice to reach it since, via Weisdale Hill but have been thwarted by time and weather. This time started from Upper Kergord HU4032455655 and had a pleasant climb in sunny but breezy conditions. Picked up the burn to the south east of the top and followed it up.
