Headed north up the 61 from the centre of Leeds and took a left at the roundabout just after we spotted the pillar. Parked in Potternewton View and walked back along the footpath. Photographing the FB (which is facing the road) is slightly hazardous as you are between fast traffic and a concrete pillar, posting a lookout is advised. Trig is still resplendent in its coat of white paint. A rather unusual bus lane is located next to the main road and a windmill in Potternewton Mount can be seen from the trig. Garmin was very good here; just 1 metre out each way and almost exact on altitude.

I was 'beeped' by a passing car (I must add, I wasn't stood in the road at this point!) as I took photos - a local trigbagger saying hello, or just something thinking 'Look, there's another one of those weirdos!' :-) Pillar history: Built on the 22nd of March 1947, at a cost of £6 9s 6d. Spotted the trig in its unusual position on the way up to Tunnel How trig. Came back and parked on Potternewton View N of the playing fields, took the FP across to the trig and bagged it. Good views of Leeds in the S. Strange 'guided busway' tracks on the main road, never seen them before. On the way back were a group of dads with their kids zooming around on quad bikes, all of them reflecting the ethnic diversity the area. Got some good chips and 'scraps' from the nearby Drakes fish and chip shop. While crossing the road to the chippy, a quad bike and zoomed across on a 'wheelie', hit the kerb and flipped over sending the bloke flying. He was ok, more concerned with his sunglasses which flew off too. I sat eating the chips watching the quad bikes. Nearby is a converted windmill, no vanes with a chimney stack added.

Nearest trig to my usual workplace and needing a bag I drove out of the City noting the climb as I drove north on the A61. Parked in Potternewton ave and walked back round, nonchalantly tigging the trig as I pretended to simply cross the busy road. Took a pic but the cars put my off and my flash seemed to freak them out - it didn't come out and I weren't hanging about. That's 25 trigs done now.....
