Short diversion to Chernobyl-by-the-Sea from main coastal A-road. Wet and gloomy but a fine view of the Sellafield complex and an appreciation of the massive scale of the operation.

Heading out of the Lakes in the middle of a belter of a rain storm that has left roads flooded but just time to grab a few extra trigs before we get marooned up here. Parked in the gold club car park - nobody even thinking about playing today. Then headed up the track to the trig point. An easy bag - just what was needed.

Down to the coast after Muncaster Fell the last blue hole in the storm clouds casts out over the sea. Brought up like many a good liberal to be scared of Seascale...what a lovely place. Glorious dark coast and space to roam.

A waterproofs & wellies trig bagging day. Cheekily parked in the golf club car park. A couple of hardy golfers were teeing up. Easy walk along lane to trig. Another one near a ROC bunker. Sellafield was just visible through the gloom.

Walked up track from golf club. It was a bit bleak, with views over Sellafield, but it is easy to find. Old ROC post in next field. Ironic that one was built so close to the power station, although it was probably built first.

Last of three en route to Exiled Friends in Beckermet. Easy access from golf club car park up to trig with a great view of Sellafield (and the western fells!); coastwards a little misty today but I am told on a good day you can make out the fields on the Isle of Man. Centre and N s/hole open, otherwise vgc.

Second visit. For photographs and GPS measurement. SITE VISIT: Used golf club quiet car park to southwest of side of road at NY036013. Approached from south via mapped RoW. Pillar on bank by east side of track, open access. Column in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~245°. Vented through NW sight hole. 360° open outlook includes the Sca Fell range and Isle of Man.

Parked in the golf club car park, walking 350m along a public bridle way to the trig. Prominent on a raised boundary, the plinth is becoming exposed, otherwise in good condition; cap is missing, no plug; 1 sight hole open. Views E to the Lakeland fells, Wasdale Screes being prominient; S to Seascale village with Black Coombe in distance; W to the sea; no views N!

Walked up the road from the railway station to the golf club(sign posted) & then followed the bridleway up to the trig which is on the grass bank on the righthand side. No views to speak of today as the cloud was nearly at sea level & it was pouring with rain

Easy access from golf club, BNFL prominent! to be fare to Seascale the seafront is excellent with the cleanest public conveniences and great castle like play area for kids, I had my lunch in the seafront car park which accommodates the recycle centre with a constant flow of locals doing their bit,

Easy access via golf course track. There is a disused ROC bunker in the field opposite (see Mellor, TP 4768) with the main access shaft open but filled with earth.

Approached from south via mapped RoW. Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed 15th September 1949 costing £7.14s.8d. In 1952 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NY11/24 in the Workington secondary block. Flush bracket S5760 was levelled for height in 1965. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in December 1976. OS archive incorrectly has S5670 which is Calf top. Spider retained original OS centre plug with deep indented lettering. No photos taken.
