Unfortunately we could not get over the barbed wired fence to get to the trigpoint so couldn't see the bracket. We approached this Trig from the farm gate. We had parked at the side of the road next to the gate and climbed over into the field. The trigpoint is situated in the middle of the bushes along the barbed wire fence which separates the two fields. We originally expected the trig to be on the fence that ran parallel to the road but we eventually found out it was on the other side of the field in the middle of the fence separating the two fields. The cows were very photogenic and came across to see us - probably wondering what the heck we were up to! As you can see from the pics, they are very happy and seem to use the pillar as a scratch post! Andy not so happy, as he couldn't do his signature pose sitting on the trig due to the fence being in between us. If we had managed to approach from the field adjacent to the one we were in then we would have got to see the Trig in full view. Upon our departure, we were approached by the farmer who seemed to be concerned about strangers in the field. Seemingly there had been illegal snare traps set in his fields in the past causing his animals injuries. The person had been caught after a lengthy investigation by SSPCA who had set up cameras to catch the him. As usual, the punishment isn't enough and again, it shows how the law should be changed for these kind of offences! Anyway, the farmer was reassured when we told him we were just a couple of nutters searching for the trigpoint in his field. All in all a nice night but very cold! This was an easy trig to bag, although the position of it on the OS map had us puzzled a bit!

It is by the sw boundary hedge of a grazing field being used as a scratching post by the cattle. Access through hedge from the south. Pillar built 22nd August 1943. Tertiary station in Block NT48, Edinburgh. Still in good condition. The spider has a blank plastic plug. The flush bracket faces northeast. Rear port hole open, others plugged. View to Traprain Law. Latest visit 27/12/2004 with Rob Woodall. Found as per last visit, but minus the coos, GRP.
