Walked in from our air b and b in KL. Started from St.Marys Church down the Radical Steps to Devils Bridge. Headed to the B6254 from where a path up steps (with Rivet BM) leads across fields. Then headed into High Biggins then left towards Sellet Hall where a track heads off left past it and then up to the trig. Great views. Headed past Sellet Mill to the main road which was precariously followed back to KL

Over in this neck of the woods for an urban orienteering event in Ingleton and later a talk on Beavers by CWT. Chucked it down nearly all day so decided to stay low and do a circular walk from Devils Bridge. A short jaunt and a very accessible pillar from the PRoW running E to W. Rescued an overturned sheep on the way and got it back on its 4 legs. Remember Brasso, well buying a tin was like searching for the Holy Grail. Tracked one down in an hardware shop and cheered to see its been going 100 years and It has undergone very few changes in either composition or packaging. This pillar is gifted to good old Brasso.

We parked up on Saddler Nook Lane, and took the easy ROW to the trig field past Sellet Hall. The field was empty of stock and crop, so we nipped up Sellet Bank hill to the first fence line (not on the OS 1:25k) and on to the pillar. The hill appears to belong to Sellet Mill farm to the north east, and you are visible when at the pillar, but it is a long way off and our discrete visit went unchallenged. Pillar in good condition except for a small top edge chip and some minimal weathering, but had been liberally sprayed with manure (along with the field) so was a uniform brown colour...! Lovely views of Ingleborough and beyond from this vantage point. We returned the same way.

I followed the way marked path before turning right to ascend the small hill. The views are fantastic in all directions and the clear blue sky really helped. The pillar is generally in good condition with just a small chip on the edge next to the spider which retains its original centre. There is a small amount of ground erosion but rocks have Bern placed there, presumably in an effort to prevent further erosion.
