A suitably excellent one for my 400th log. Great to do a proper roughty tufty hill where you just have to spring on and keep up the pace. Like the way it steps up none of those daunting never ending curves. Showers growing from the mountains with hail and squalls later.

Log #445. Parked at radio mast, got some fantastic photos looking down the glen before setting off. Followed the right-hand side of the burn, before switching to the opposite bank as it turns east and then north. Scrambled up the falls at 757 213, then the logical route north to the lochan for a wee break and some photos. Met someone else at the trigpoint which was a big surprise, after seeing no-one else all morning. Cracking views over Kyleakin, Broadford, and most of eastern Skye - highly recommended! Returned by outward route. [ExP-309/MiP-38/Rev-6/BM-29/IS-44/Other-19]

HISTORY: Pillar completed 20th June 1958, cost not on record. Computed as secondary triangulation station NG80/DM/3 by distomat survey within the Fort William block during 1958. Levelled for height also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in May 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from southwest. Room to park car off SW side of C1239 just east of bridge at NG752207. Starting from north side of road, first 100m up on a northwesterly course keeping out of valleys then turning near due north up to the 611m height spot on Beinne na Greine. The final ascent is eastwards and climbs, drops and climbs again to the highest summit. Wind shelter on top. Vanessa in fair condition, chunks fallen from bottom of pillar possibly started as frost damage. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces WSW ~243. All four sight holes open, pillar bolt visible. Full 360 panoramic view includes: Beinn Bhan, Liathach, Carn Geuradainn, Beinn Dronaig, Beinn A' Chuirn, The Saddle, Ben Sgriol, Ladhar Bheinn, Na Cruachan, Carn A' Ghobhair, Beinn Na Seamraig, An Sgurr (Eigg), Askival, Blaven, Glamaig, Dun Caan, Crowlin.

Lovely vanessa trig. Parked just to the East of the Bealach Udal, and headed on a fairly direct route to the small loch to the SW of the summit, and then directly to the top. Fresh snow made this a lovely walk, with some cloud inversion and excellent views, changing all the time. Excellent.

Should be a much higher score but the viz was so low we couldn't see anything much. And we were unable to log the number or comment on the pillar condition due to it being covered in ice, other than it is a vanessa. This was the most extreme walk we did on the 2 weeks in Scotland. Parked at the car park just up the hill from Kylerhea and took a straight line NW up the mountain to Beinn Bhuidhe, then on to the bealach before heading up onto Beinn na Caillich. Returned to the bealach and onto Sgurr na Coinnich before descending SW to Bealach Udal and an easy walk back along the road.
