Bagged by accident. Didn't realise it was there. Spotted it as driving, then needed to reverse back and into entrance to take customary pics. Pleased I hadn't made a special trip to bag this one. The hedges are laden with berries almost making it difficult to actually see the FB! Quickest bag to date for me!

Very easy to drive to and parking available right beside the trig. Nice to see the NHS stone still on top. Flush bracket easily accessed field side. Nearby windmill makes for an interesting view on approach.

(235) Easy find at the side of the road next to the farm entrance , pillar in good condition, no flush bracket but the we love NHS pebble is still on top the pillar, lovely surroundings with the remains of the castle at Sherriff Hutton visible beyond Sheep close farm in the distance. what three words. Thundered, crispy, infuses.

(2351) Skegmer Lane was a bit rough today - very steep and very icy. Pillar sits roadside, with a handy track leading down to Sheepclose Farm next to it for parking. In overall good condition, though the original centre cap is missing and the hole is now filled in. NHS painted stone still present. And less than a year on, the coat of paint is now looking rather shabby. FB faces into the field, but this isn't a problem to access. It appears there is some debate as to whether this pillar once stood inside the field, and was then moved at some undetermined point. In the archive, the OS notes (undated) that the pillar had a 45° angle lean, but no lean of that magnitude is present now. So some reshuffling, at least, has occurred. If it was indeed moved, then going by the older maps I could access, it wasn't moved very far. Pillar history: Built on the 4th of June 1939, at a cost of £4 3s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in August of 1984.

Roadside pillar which has had a recent paint job. Speaking to a local farmer type he reckons the views from this is one of the best. They were good.

A very easy roadside trig, enjoying the benefits of Charles's recent decorating efforts. It looks superb with a fresh coat of white. Accessing the flush bracket side is also the work of a moment. A great one to visit.

Secateured back the hawthorn, dug back down about 4cm to the base and pulled out some nettle root. Wire brushed all four sides on preparation for repainting which actually happened four days later on Friday 22nd Top with NHS support decorated stone by the family of the nearby farm

Black and rotten pumpkin on top along with nicely painted rock supporting NHS. Cleaned it up all round with wire brush and dug and cleared a trench down to the base on all four sides plus fair bit of extra hawthorn trimming. Intension to give it a fresh coat of white paint sometime.

Rams gave this one a pruning as the hedge was beginning to take over. The flush bracket can be seen from field side of the hedge. Does not get much easier than this one.

This is part obscured by a hedge at the entrance to the farm track it is right by the road! as a clue it is opposite a converted windmill in a field the other side the road. (this is our 4th Trig in under 2.5 hours !!)

Great drive by candidate, but I made a walk of it after parking at Sheriff Hutton village hall car park, stated private but no issues for me. I walked down North Garth Lane and then up Skegmer Lane to the pillar which is roadside with no access problems and in good condition. Pleasant views towards the Howardian Hills from this modest height. Extra interest nearby is a sailless windmill, also Sheriff Hutton has a castle which is private but can be walked near on a footpath.

Pillar easily found on roadside adjacent to the lane leading to Sheepclose Farm. One sight hole open on E side. Had to walk round fence and crawl under hawthorne hedge to read the flush bracket which is hard against the wooden fence rails on the W side.

Nice quick roadside pillar trigpoint on route to York Outlet and another nearby(ish) virtual geocache. Parked up further along the road and took a short walk to gz to record the flush bracket number. Not the best views from the trigpoint as it is squashed in by a fence and a hedge.
