Just north west of Downs Link path heading out of Steyning. After Wyckham Farm, Downs Link turns right, follow footpath straight ahead which turns left, after about half a kilometre it turns north west, a little further on on the right is a yard of farm machinery and clutter, follow the hedge line on the right, the pillar is about 30 metres along. Reasonable views to the north.

Simple enough to access from the footpath, but the farm owner is apparently like "a bear with a sore head" so make sure you don't get seen!

Spotted on a circular walk from Steyning, so made a quick detour through 'farmyard' area and along hedge to pillar. Fabulous views to the North.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 12th April 1947 costing £6.18s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station TQ00/T66 during 1947. Levelled for height to class 1 precision at tertiary standards in 1966. Last maintained by the OS in 1980. SITE VISIT: Parked as far down the track I could go at TQ 18417 12299 and followed Downs Link track until the Downs Link turned off and I stayed on the track, all the way up to TQ 18383 13605 where a small trespass was required through the dumping ground staying N of field boundary. Original OS cap with shallow engraved letters, theodolite securing loops butchered and broken, other than that, vgc. Flush bracket facing S, compass measurement 180°. Sight holes semi-filled with debris, great views all around except the dumping ground!

Parked up near Huddlestone Farm then took RoW past Natts Cottages, through the 'agricultural dumping ground' (not very extensive) to trig on a scrubby embankment, N side wire stock fence. Original cap in place, deeply indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open; all top loops broken. Views N only.

Visited on a walk between Shoreham-by-sea and Styening to pick up trig points at Shoreham High Reservoir, Erringham Hill, and Shelleys. As noted by others, the trig point is reached by walking through an agricultural dumping ground. The pillar is now obscured by a substantial oak tree that must have grown since the pillar was built. The tree contains a geocache. Great views from the small ridge on which the trig point stands.

We parked to the south near the sewage works just before the disused railway bridge. Quite a hike but a good day for it (we couldn't find a suitable parking place on the B2135). The pillar is just over the fence in the hedge, after the agricultural dump, and surrounded by nettles at this time of year. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

The pillar might be within a clump of trees, or just obscured by crop. Need permission to get a closer look. It's situation is interesting, a small hill amongst flat floodplain gives great views all the way round.
