Parked in small lay-by at Framlington Gate. Walking north along track then turning left up Wooden hill following the fence line. Rough going in places and boggy. Cross over two fences at corner of woodland to head south towards the trig point. Same route back at first but on the northern edge of wood went over fence to pick up the second firebreak marked of the O.S map which bring you down to a track. This is much easier route back.

Walked around the north side of the wood, very boggy in stretches and the heather was quite thick in places. Continued along the fence line after visiting the trig until i reached the boundary stone where i cut back in along the old fence line and found the logging road.

Parked up, as others below, at point 278 on the B6341 and took a fairly direct line over the moor to the obvious high point a mile or so to the south east. After the previous days weather had been more redolent of January than July it was a pretty soggy yomp in places, but we'd dressed appropriately and enjoyed the exercise and the accompanying cry of the curlews. The tree line obscures all views NE through to SE, but otherwise the views are extensive, albeit tonight Simonside and the Cheviots were capped with low cloud. A probable revisit on a brighter, clearer day.

Parked by the gate near the 279 (Explorer) / 278 (Landranger) spot height NW of pillar. It's a mile of slogging across tussocky grass and heather which gets quite deep on the final slope up to the trig. There's a small chip off the top left hand corner as viewed from the FB side.
