Followed the previous measurements (10.5m from 30 mph sign and 2.75m from hedge). Started probing with an old table fork and after 10mins, heard the familier sound of a Berntsen. A little bit of digging had the wee devil exposed, despite the tractor, trailer and bales. Good one.

ooof lucky - thanks to the measurements given in previous logs we persevered and found it just behind the tractor wheel.

South verge, under a big rusty trailer. From 30mph sign walk uphill 10m, then round back of trailer: Berntsen 1m downhill from edge of flatbed. Was buried a couple inches down, dug out and left exposed.

The adjacent landowner took an interest in our activities. He was very friendly and offered to move the bales out of the way with his loader. This did not prove necessary as the berntsen is as previously described directly in line with a fence post 10m from the 30MPH sign and halfway between road and fence. A few stabs with the screwdriver found it. Landowner stated that several parties had spent some time recently walking around the lane trying to locate "something", now he knew what it was.

Found with helps of Teds pics as couldnt find on OS database. Farmer was leading straw in and was more than happy for us to aerate the verge with screwdrivers! Took 30 mins of systematic prodding, head scratching and photo looking. Its not that far down but you get side tracked by constantly hitting the stone flags under the surface that run parallel to the fence. For those who may wish to follow, its 10.15M from the 30mph sign, 2.75M from the fence and 3.10M from the road. GPS no good, accuracy 2M, nothing wrong with the patent screwdriver technique.
