An interesting and varied hike with great views all the way round including those from the site of this trig. A smalll amount of concrete has broken away from the top of the pillar. The centre of the spider is also missing.

A fantastic location and lovely walk up from either Cavendish Pavilion or Howgill (when weather behaves). Have visited many times before but never logged as that was before I became nerdy about trig points. Being nerdy also about punctuation I would prefer to see an apostrophe in the name. Even if multiple Simons have rested their weary derrières at this location it should STILL have an apostrophe!

Because we hadn't, choosing a route to Howgill proved tricky. Still. Fabulous spot with that all important rock climb possible to reach the pillar. The walk back to the Cavendish Pavilion was very pretty along the river, but perhaps a shade too long. Took a long time to find a decent pub afterwards too. We set off from "Storiths" near "Bolton Abbey" then walked along "The Valley of Desolation" up to Simons seat, then we walked to "North Nab" trig and eventually back to the car, a 12.5 mile walk.

Me and Rocky at the trig When we got to Barden Fell there were signs saying no dogs ??? but it was a bit to late by then so me and Rocky continued our walk.

Trig in good condition but with plug missing. My first 'official' visit to this Trig as I have been up here several times before. Walked up the four or five miles from nr West End Church via the recently restored Rocking Hall Shooting Lodge. This is all via Access Land and is a much quieter alternative to the Valley of Desolation 'tourist route' A mild but blowy Boxing Day turned into a violently windy one and the final ascent up the rocks of Simon's Seat to the trig point was very buffety. The views from here are fantastic though I was glad to get down off the tops and into Appletreewick for a well-earned pint at the Craven Arms, from where I had arranged to be collected.
