I took the long way round for this baby. Started from a layby on the A628 which had a stile onto a well established footpath (but which wasn't on the map). I was soon playing hopscotch with the ankle breakers. Eventually got to a path in access land which led me to Winscar Reservoir. Clockwise around it on a significantly overgrown footpath (this one was on the map). Then made my way up to the path where the trig is. phew. Worth the effort though. After which a bit of a free for all over the moor. We kept to the tussocks and although wet, not too bad. Once at the pillar, take a moment to soak in the majestic solitude of the Dark Peak, Yorkshire's West and South Nabs are in view. To get back off the Moor we took a line towards Emley Moor mast, keeping the forest in view and arrived back this time at the Eastern side of Snailsden Res. Brilliant.
