Spider looks to have been on somebody's list of collectables, however its still remains. plug filled. Windy day but reasonable views blighted by the wind farm to the East. It did help that we could see the pillar in the distance on what was becoming a warm and sunny day.

Easily visible from Dead Edge End. Considered heading straight across Grains Moss or taking an avoiding route via Withens Edge. Since the ground had been reasonably firm up to now I opted to make straight for the pillar across Grains Moss. Had great fun in the heather and negotiating deep groughs in the peat. Even saw my third mountain hare (although he hadn't yet got his full winter coat). Just before heading up Snailsden Edge I suddenly found myself upto my shins in a water filled gulley that was hidden by long grass !! As others have reported, the spider is completely exposed and the metal cap has been replaced with plastic. Continued eastwards along the grass track above Snailsden Edge. Where this meets another track at a gap in the stone wall I at first tried to head down the hill only to discover my route was thwarted by private property. Returned up the hill to the meeting of the tracks and then continued North across Lower Snailsden Moss. Followed this track around the southern perimeter of Harden Reservoir and across the dam wall onto Harden Road. Finally returned to Windle Edge car park via the eastern edge of Winscar Reservoir and across the dam wall. Boot laces had frozen solid by the time I'd finished !!
