WELL!! what excellent timing, and a 60th birthday bonus. Visited this trig 12-13years before, when there was no fence. Now that there was, had no thoughts of getting to see the trig and was just going to go out again to the hill summit tumulus in the field with a circle of trees and my local Marilyn summit. However driving by the gate, it was open and a waterboard worker with long gingerish hair and beard was doing something with a tap just to the right inside the gate. I pulled up and leapt out of the car and asked if he was a Water board company worker? He eyed me suspiciously and said sarcastically that the water board was broken up over 20 years ago and 'What can I do to help you.' 'Are you still here for 5-10 mins more,' I asked. 'I might be,' he said, still eyeing me suspciously. 'Why, What do you want? 'Oh I'm just a trig enthusiast and wanted to go over to the trig for five mins or so with my son Jamie.' 'You won't be immediately announcing my kindness on Twitter will you and getting me into trouble?' 'No, of course not,' I reassure. 'Okay off you go then.' After taking pics of Jamie sitting on the trig and a close up of his colourful feet dangling either side of the FB I wandered back to the gate and remembering that I had a couple of squares of cartridge paper in my car door, gingerly asked ginger beardy if he'd mind if I went back again for a few minutes to do something extra nerdy. 'What's that?' he enquired. 'Oh I'd like to go back and take a pencil rubbing of the Flush Bracket. 'Go on then.' I was lying on the grass doing the difficult job of holding the paper and trying to rub with pencil lead strongly enough to get a decent impression but not so strong that I broke through the paper, which I did.
