parked in golf club car park and asked man if we could get access to the beach through the golf club. He pointed us 100yds back to the beach access. Duly wandered along the beach and I intended to collect a few pocketfulls of nice small pebbles on the way back. Climbed up and over the fence to get to the trig. Having excavated a bit of sand to reveal the full flush bracket, I was lying on the ground making a pencil rubbing of it, when the same golf gentleman from before came up and said, "Ah I see you're interested in the trig. I saw you climb over the fence, so I thought I come and check out as I saw a young lad with you and we've had a bit of trouble from people coming and vandalising stuff on some of the tees." We walked off through the clubhouse area with the last couple of the competition day hunting for two lost balls on the approach to the 18th.

Easiest access is to park at Silecroft and wander along the shingle beach. Climb over the fence when the trig appears on the skyline. Lovely views along the coast from here despite its low elevation, and an amazing number of turbines out to sea. No golfers to be seen on a very windy afternoon. FB number half hidden in the sand. Nice place to rack up our 150 trig :)

Trig at top of grass bank next to golf course & requires an easy climb over a sturdy barb wire fence, good views over the bay & increasingly better views towards Black Combe. Nice peaceful place.

Like others I walked south along the pebble beach from Silecroft until I saw the pillar on the grass bank above. Had to climb a barbed wire fence and then arrived at the pillar and tee number 2. Two ladies just driving off and we exchanged pleasantries. Pillar in good condition but flush bracket now partly below surface. Lovely area with sea on one side and hills on the other.

Approached from NW along coastline. Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed in May 1949 costing 8.16s.10d. In 1950 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD47/T45 in the Barrow-in-Furness secondary block. Flush bracket S5471 was levelled for height in 1956. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in November 1976. Scarcely outside LDNP yet so rarely visited. Spider still retained an original OS centre plug with shallow engraved letters.
