Great view of Ingleborough and Wernside. Parked up through the open farmers gate and the trig is right there. English Rose has faded and the trig has a chunk missing from one of the corners.

Revisit in the late afternoon sunshine trig has damage to top corner. Walked out to both tops on Marl Hill Moor Tump summit . A lot of logging machines on site so maybe the woods will all soon be gone.

Spire Farm. Drove from Bashall Eaves direction to Cow Ark T junction turning right. First right at sign Newton 3m. Lay by parking at the farm entrance. Cows further down below. Big hoof prints around the muddy trig.

From the cattle grid walked the short distance up the track to the Trig which is situated close to woodland and is amongst Reeds, It is slightly damaged to the top SE corner , has its original cap and one sight hole is open, the view consists mainly of lots of trees

HISTORY: Pillar completed 5th July 1948 costing £13.17s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD74/T44 in 1948. Levelled for height in 1961. Last maintained by the OS in April 1976. SITE VISIT: Parked in wide entrance of track of east side of road at SD679467. Trig stands just along track on right hand side by woodland. Pillar in fair condition with damage to top. Spider retains original OS centre plug with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces northeast, ~49°. Vented through SW sight hole. Open outlook limited to a small portion west of south, remainder lost to surrounding trees.
