I parked in the same place as Downfaller and managed to find where the footpath forked off the track OK. The farmer was busy fertilising this field so I waited for the tractor to approach and asked if it was ok to visit the trig. He said it was fine. There is only one gated field to go through off the footpath this route, and no cows today.

Parked on grass verge nr Yewcroft farm on the lane just off Matlock Rd. Took the FP heading West towards bank Farm but failed see the footpath that drops off to the left of there access track, so ended up close to the house. useful though, took the opportunity to ask if the TP is on there land. Its not - belongs to the farm a good few fields South. Back to the FP and through the first gate in the wall and up the field. Good views to the South. All metal work intact.

First of three trigs wandering round Matlock and Darley Dale. It's a case of third time lucky with this one, previous two I didn't want to jump over walls. Parked in convenient lay by on Highashes Lane, took public footpath by Bank Farm and nipped through gate up to trig which is not visible from path but soon comes in to view. Views surprisingly good from trig. On to trig S of Matlock Moor.

Continued SE from Ashover trig pillar down to Milken Lane. Along Milken Lane then took PROW heading N into Alton. Continued N out of Alton on another PROW taking the left branch to Northedge where this path forks. Followed PROW around western edge of Northedge Hall Farm and across the hillside, passing Press Reservoirs, to emerge onto Birkin Lane. Headed uphill to Birkinlane Farm where I took the PROW across to High Ashes Farm. Farmer's dog came running up barking at me but it wasn't particularly threatening. Farmer very apologetic but no harm done. Followed Highashes Lane and PROW across to Windmill Farm and main A632. From here it was a short walk up to the entrance to Bank Farm where I knocked for permission to visit the trig. Plenty of cars on the drive but no answer so back down the track to the PROW and across a few fields until out of sight of the house. Where the PROW crosses from LHS to RHS of wall I turned NW up the hill. One wall to negotiate then through an open gate to pillar which was in good condition with original metalwork. Retraced my steps back to the PROW then continued SW to Alicehead Road. Along the road and across A632 onto Birkin Lane. At the crossroads I turned South taking the PROW across fields back into Ashover.
