From Renscombe Farm on a short but superb family circular walk, taking in Chapmanís Pool and St Albanís Chapel inside which is some amazing graffiti from down the centuries including some from the plague year of 1665. Small diversion to meet this pillar set within its hedge: cap in place with raised lettering. Always a pleasure to return to the Isle Of Purbeck.

The 2nd trig on a 10-mile stage of the SW Coast Path from Swanage, which finished for us at the splendid Square & Compass pub in Worth Matravers. As others have described, it's a simple follow-the-hedgeline job from the chapel. A beautifully sunny day, the heat lessened by a welcome westerly, we have now cracked three stages of the SWCP, starting from each end, and bagged 4 trigs.

Only a short detour needed from a visit to St Albans Norman Chapel (worth seeing). A slightly sad "in the hedge" trig, but when you get there, the views down the coast in each direction justifies why it is there.

Original cap in place, raised lettering; rear sight hole open, RHD side undetermined as vegetation too thick to penetrate. Some thorn and bramble clearance was necessary to access FB. Extensive 360deg views.

From the previous trig, South Barn, Craig and I walked west along the cliff top coastline. We had a quick stop along the way to go down and have a look at 'dancing ledge', a disused quarry within the cliff edge which is full of caves and exciting rock climbs. This next trig was deceptively harder to reach than thought to be by looking at the map. Still views along the coastline were at their greatest at this time with the sun now low and stretching across the water. The trig was across two fields just sitting next to the hedge still with cap. On top of the trig was an interesting owl dropping which I found full of mice bones as I discected it.

We parked at Renscombe Farm and took the track that leads to the Quarry. Just past the quarry there is an open gateway on the left which gives access into the field with the trig. This is a lot easier than trying to approach it from the coastal path. We walked back via St Adhelms Chapel and Chapman's Pool on the coastal path. The Coastguard helicopter was mking a rescue at the time which added a bit of interest. Stunning views from all along this coast. Plug with raised lettering.
