Pulled over on roadside at crossroads about three miles north east of Medbourne on B664. Pillar visible in field to north. There’s a stile at the corner of the field which I only saw after I had climbed through the hedge and over the barbed wire fence. Spider and cap in place. View of grass field to north.

(2596) About as easy as they come. Roadside parking and then over the stile to the pillar. Nice. Pillar all good and sporting its original centre cap - lightly indented lettering. Pillar history: Built on the 20th of May 1938, at a cost of £5 12s 5d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1984.

Different kettle of fish this one, compared with Uppingham in terms of access. Park on verge on north road, pillar in northeast quadrant. Climb over stile using the PRoW post to steady yourself. Pillar is 5m away in an uncultivated corner of the field. Sight holes are open. Stand on tiptoe and look south and you get fantastic views of the south side of the Welland valley. Lovely crisp February afternoon sunshine. If you have time go and have a look at the Welland valley (cut by meltwater at the end of the last ice age) and the viaduct across the valley.

Joint visit with Carole. Easy roadside parking at the crossroads. Then it is just a simple matter of going over the stile onto the footpath heading north-east. Once over the pillar is directly ahead. The pillar is in good condition and still retains an original indented lettered plug. Rural location and a very easy visit.

Easy find - in unmowed pasture full of buttercups. Original plug. A peaceful spot at the start of a lovely sunny June day. Larks singing, swallows on telgraph wires,and even a Muntjac deer emerging from a hedgerow.

Pillar in good condition, complete with all metalwork. All sightholes open. Views negligible except to W - too many hedges and trees. Very easy access - on public footpath, just over stile from crossroads. Note that triangulation observations to and from this station were made using a Steel Tower.
