Wanted to visit this trig before it is just a pile of stones. Didn't fancy the climb up from the Old Man of Storr so sauntered up from Bealach Mor, easy route avoiding the scrambling. Views really deserve a plus 10

Log #363. Absolute belter. Murky on the way up to the bodachan, but cloud began to lift as I walked through the Sanctuary and passed the Needle. Amazing views back towards the formations, then followed track to stile. Straightforward trek on obvious track around the shelf, before taking direct route up on the Storr plateau itself. Skirted the cliff edge for maximum views and vertigo, before stopping at the trig for a swally o' watter. Stone-built pillar is significantly damaged, with a number of rocks and the FB missing. Followed cliff-top track SE for incredible views over the formations. The Sanctuary was absolutely mobbed on the way up, but I only saw a couple of others doing the circuit. Simple scrambly descent via Bealach Beag and then followed the boggy sheep tracks down to the parking area SW of the cottage. Walked back along busy Staffin road to the main car park. Amazing, can't recommend more highly. [ExP-251/MiP-32/Rev-3/BM-25/IS-34/Other-18]

Very busy up to and around the Old Man but after that few people ventured to the top of The Storr which made it a more enjoyable walk. A little scrambly to get into the Coire Scamadal - but only a couple of moves. Then contoured round the Coire and back along the ridge rather than direct ascent shown in the SMC book of Corbetts and other Scottish hills

It was a fine day down by the old man, but the trig was in the clouds by time we got up to it. Could only give it a 9 because I was frustrated at not being able to enjoy the view. The trig is damaged but still standing, if I lived locally I would take some cement up and repair it. PS: We followed the route shown on the walkhighlands.co.uk website; if followed, a short cliff top scramble is required to get upon to Coire Scamadal, with care its not dangerous and its passed in about a minute, but you need a head for heights (Chris did not like it).

An easy walk up from the car park on the A885 via the 'Old Man' rock. Lovely weather gave some really excellent views over to Rasaay and elsewhere, and we were almost alone but for a small party of guys on their annual escape from work and home life. Return via the Bealach Beag took us over orchid rich meadows before the descent down the bealach. Looks as though the pillar will collapse soon if no remedial action is taken.

Stonebuilt, fair few stones missing, amazingly not demolished yet, with metalwork intact; albeit asphalt plug. Bare boot-trodden summit. What a great hill. 3rd(ish) visit, descended the excellent little path E along the ridge to overlook the pinnacles. Half the fun was the headlong tourist-scattering descent on the new (to me) path. Car park overflowing even on a grey showery day, a few Scots but mostly overseas visitors, Old Man watching.
