Our fourth attempt at this one, but still had to give up, our limbs just don't like scrambling through Hedges, caught a glimpse of the top all covered in Ivy,

Ivy and brambles tightly covering top of pillar. May be more damage now to top than in Glaslyn's photo?

Had to give up on this one. Followed PRoW but round field boundary as maize crop was planted over of path. Circum-navigated field nearest to pillar according to GPS. No sign. Followed gap in hedge which has been made by a female Muntjac deer (not Glaslyn's) judging by droppings on threshold (didn't need Chris Packham's nose for this one). Not a level boundary as I slid 4' down to fence. Gave up in the end. Don't like putting in the effort for no reward. A winter trig for sure.

The pillar sits amongst the brambles and nettles of a hedge on a small bank on the Somerset Devon border to the south of Chard. The pillar is clad in ivy; concealing any damage. It has a metal cap with shallow lettering and has FB S3718 on the Somerset side of the pillar. The trig was approached mostly by the footpath from Chardstock to the west. The site has a view to the north and to the east of the rolling landscape of Dorset and South Somerset. The descent back to Chardstock has a pleasant view across the valley to the Blackdown Hills in the west.

Many hedge wounds and hard to find, this one. Not on top of the hill. 3rd and last for today's walk. You see, daihatsu-boy, you can bag it without having to stand on the top of them!

Tricky little chappy this one, considering its location. Stuck right in the middle of a huge hedge. We also had to negotiate a couple of hedges en route. Unable to see FB, trig looked OK, but almost entirely covered in ivy and could not get near enough to tell. Have trusted others for the condition on this one.
