I nearly missed this one. Had to read the previous logs plus I then spotted an ornate tile and decided to investigate that only to find the Berntsen under it. I replaced the ceramic as I left.

Shallowly buried Berntsen on the verge beside the quarry gates as shown clearly in one of the pictures. Found after a few minutes poking with the tried and tested tent peg! A truck/tractor has driven over the Berntsen since the last photo but easy enough to find. Left uncovered (although it was underwater due to the torrential rain).

I am beginning to realise what an expensive and dangerous sport trigpointing actually is! I have already suffered torn trousers (TP0917) and had to buy bleach and new shoes (TP6694). This was my second attempt in two days to find this Berntsen. I spent 30 minutes unsuccessfully the day before and returned with the photograph kindly provided by Mogsy001. I spend another ten minutes looking wondering how something so visible earlier in the year was now invisible. I concluded that it has been buried by earth due to HGVs diving over the verge and then had vegetation grown over it. I was about to give up when I heard a big thump, looked round and saw a rock bouncing off the top of my car evidently thrown by kids hiding in the quarry opposite. I have to agree with Lathma that this is indeed a grotty spot. If I could give it a minus mark I would. The incident then necessitated going to the police station to fill out a form and embarrassingly being asked exactly what I was doing parked up in this lay by normally frequented by fly tippers. I am not convinced they believed me by let me go for now, having the photograph helped I think! I am just thankful the rock did nt hit my head!

If you are heading into Nuneaton on the B4111, it's on the left hand side, just by the entrance to an old colliery waste heap, now an unofficial tip! Very easy to see as the top appeared to have been recently cleaned and was clear of any vegetation growth. Really grotty spot!
