Parked in lay-by near track at NX854850. Used track to high deer fence with locked gate at NX583847. Easy to climb as tight wire and no barbed wire. Second gate at NX581847 opens

Parked by roadside at NX583850. Steep warm up job before tackling the Rhinns of Kells. Grazing top. Pillar in good nick, spider has tar plug. Flush bracket faces 157°, SSE. All four sight holes open. Pillar completed 25th July 1955 costing £27.9s.0d. In 1958, this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NX56/DM/T41 in the Kirkcudbright block. The flush bracket was levelled for height, also in 1958. The trig point was last maintained by the OS in September 1976.
