Followed the directions from vegibagger. (thank you, they were very handy) There was a path through the wet long grass that took me right to very handy gate at the bottom of the bluebell ride. Through another gate to get access the trig that is in a horse pen with a tree house near it. The horse was near the owners house. Took photos and left the same way as the trig is in view of back of house, making sure all gates were closed after me.

'Strides Row' S2631 trig SE of Salisbury...Ignore trying to access this private ground trig from apparent track on map from north. Two dead end false starts. Best, easy, discrete way with no disruption is this. At grid ref 247227 from road to the east, 60/70m west on track towards house, bear left into field, across grass SE for 150m to wooden fence boundary over into next field, 20m there's gap in hedge on right, easy climb over wooden fence, notice and head for, a small gate on opposite side of field. turn right (north) up bluebells and primrose ride. further small gate and trig is in small paddock. Back same way.

as mentioned, on private property. Good to see it is still there and taken care of. Didn't bother to try and get a closer look

On a roundabout walk from Plaitford Church to Melchet Court then across to Whiteparish. Met an archer in the woods complete with longbow (now THAT is a first! Funny, because I've just read a book about the Battle Of Towton, and how devastating the longbows were.) Hadn't planned to visit this trig, but realising it was in the vicinity made a diversion. Hmmm, this was tricky. Unknowingly, made the same approach as mickandshane did all those years ago. Got to the fence of the paddock - all quiet. Quick 'up & over' to pillar. The friendly horse there seemed pleased to see me. No change to pillar's condition since Jonglew's report below.

Unfortunately no access to this trig today (got to within 121m). Called at the stables to ascertain on whose property the trig was located. Advised to call at Suttons Crest, next door. The owner of Suttons Crest would then not let me have access as the stables was under quarantine for Strangles, and understandably they didn't want the disease brought onto their property. Will return another day. ***Revisited on 21 Feb 2013 after arranging access with owner. Pillar is in good condition, located in a small stables area. Sight hole beneath FB is open, other 3 closed. Original cap in place.

This is definitely in a garden, since the last pictures were taken a stable has been built.

Definitely on private property and not easy to find or access. Located the pillar but could find no-one to get permission from to visit, so did a big trespass, as I did not fancy having to fight my way to this location a 2nd time.

Possible to approach via the fields immidiately outside the village but still overlooked. presence of a tree house makes this feel amost a garden so didn't hang about. Avoid at weekends or possible better to ask at the house.

We took the footpath from near the riding stables that goes through the garden of Lion House, a pub at one time as the painted sign on the brickwork shows. After crossing a paddock with horses in we contoured around and up through some scrubby woodland to the trig. Most of the way you are out of sight, and only have to negotiate a couple of poorly repaired barbed wire fences, but the trig itself is in view of a large white house (it's at the bottom of their garden!) so I didn't hang around too long. Plug with indented lettering.
