Parked at NH 51019 28074 in large parking area. Descended road for 50yds to take track northeast (along NW edge of Borlum Wood). At end turned southeast up heather bank (along NE edge of Borlum Wood) to drop to fence corner and gate at NH 52040 28253. From here through gate in fence to take a good path up to the pillar. Lovely walk with amazing views. Pillar now out in the open as most of Borlum Wood has been felled.

Revisit after another ill-fated Great Glen search. Overall approach from southwest. Parking in layby, west side of unclassified road at NH509273. Mapped path leads along towards trig, one deer fence climb just before trig. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces northwest, compass reading 291°. Vented through left sight hole. The 270° panorama spans from southwest clockwise through north to southeast, the remainder is blocked by trees.

Nice walk in apart from a patch of bog which we managed to negotiate without getting wet feet and soon spotted the pillar at the top of the rise. Lovely views from up here on a clear day and if they felled some more trees to the Loch side you could get an amazing 360 degree panorama from here!

I parked in a passing place on the road but could have squeezed the car further up the track, just at the start of the wee 1.4km track to the trig. Straightforward track, mainly used by walkers and horses. Get's you to within 50m of the trig, which is surrounded by trees. Extensive felling taking place further back in the forest so hopefully the views may be opened up again one day. Saw some nice dragonflies while walking along the track.

Parked in wide forest entrance, NW side of unclassified road at NH510280. Followed muddy path along NW edge of woods then southwards up heathery ground east of woods. Returned taking a more direct route through the woods which was the easier option. Pillar in mature wood which has protected it from the elements and preserved it in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces WNW, ~293°. Vented through NE sight hole. Surrounded by spaced conifers, therefore no view. Nice location though.

A beautifully serene location when I found it. Lovely warm day and an easy bouncy walk in from the Great Glen Way path, along peaty paths. Fence is falling over so no access problems, easy to spot the highpoint on which its located and trig is easily found amongst the trees. Becoming mostly moss covered, nature is taking over. Missing plug on spider, but otherwise fine condition.
