The latter stages of accessing the Sulber trig 'felt' very trespassy the walls & trig being very close to a farm. Parking on Cragg Hill Road took the Pennine Way N to access the Cave Hill trig then 'picking-up' the Pennine Bridleway continued S to head SW to cross the picturesque footbridge over the Ribble & take a right having gone thro' the railway tunnel. A left & then right from the B6479 took me across a field or two to cross Low Pasture & 'pick-up' the track along the semi-circular wall towards the trig. To access the trig a crawl thro' was necessary...So what one might say but the gate was hinged at the top such that as well as crawling thro' the narrow gap, one had to lift the gate up simultaneously...The joys of 'trigbagging'!

We visited Sulber and Moughton on an 11-mile circuit from Austwick, in full winter conditions. Walking over the top of the limestone clints and grykes, with a foot of snow underfoot and almost whiteout visibility led to a few falls and scrapes along the way, not to mention almost falling off the quarry edge at Moughton Nab. Wonderful day out all the same. Sulber pillar looked in fine condition with a full set of metalwork - we kept to the east side of the wall on the way to the trig, as the only gate through is a small 'sheep door' and we didn't fancy crawling through snow and slush.

This was one of the extra pillars I clocked on the map and so glad I did. A network of new paths from Park Fell and back to Clapham. An easy one to bag and had a fresh coat of paint. Limestone is found throughout Europe and always feel a connection when trekking in limestone landscapes. The four pillars are gifted to limestone and that "homely" feeling it gives.

From the lane to east - easy. Nice day, pillar fine. Went on to get the Ribblesdale FBM nearby. I crept through the sheep creep to avoid the need to climb the wall!

Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed 12th July 1949 costing £15.15s.0d. In 1951 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD96/T45 in the Skipton secondary block. Flush bracket S5623 was levelled for height also in 1951. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1976. Nearly missed this one, my outdated Outdoor Leisure map has the trig symbols in black. Another one set amongst limestone crags.
