HISTORY: Pillar completed 3 April 1947 costing 7.0s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station TQ00/T64 in 1947. Levelled for height to class 1 precision at tertiary standards in 1968. Last maintained by the OS in 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from south. Parked at small car park near rugby pitch east of house and followed the Sussex Border Trail up the hill with the strange crash barrier on the right. Original OS cap with raised letters, vgc. Flush bracket facing ESE, compass measurement 100. Sight holes filled with debris. In an overgrown patch to the west of the path so not very good views straight from the TP but from the path views are stunning all around.

Drove up from the A23/A27 intersection at Patcham, under the 2m barrier and parked the company van in the sports ground car park. Walked back up the road and crossed the A23 and railway via Brownies bridge. We followed the footpath up until we spotted the pillar in the brambles. Someone had beaten a way to the trig quite recently and left a small concrete block at the base. I knocked the brambles back a bit more to get a shot of the flush bracket. Good views all around - identified mills and a few other features. Well worth the short walk.

Situated on a regional footpath called the Sussex Border Path. This path roughly follows...well, the Sussex border. This particular stretch follows the border between East & West Sussex. The Trigpointing Database shows the FB number as being S3893, and indeed the photo submitted earlier by WackyRaces clearly shows this to be the case. However, the two photos I took on my visit looks like S3892. It could be just a trick of the light, and I will go back for another look when possible. But it does look strange.
