Easy find just before ruined house

Met with farmer who was happy for me to visit and suggested that I go down the west side of the overgrown track and asked me to ensure that all gates going and coming were made secure. Still there and remains in a good condition

Parked up at Lybster Harbour. Walked from there along cliff tops. The cliffs are high! Trig is near abandoned cottage.

Very rough and seldom used track to trig point and derelict cottage, brambles, thistles, nettles and gorse. Or open gate into mast field and walk to the far corner and save yourself a lot of ouchies!

Walked up the path from the harbour. A bank of fog rolled in as I arrived at the trig, so no views.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 10th April 1952 costing £17.15s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station ND25/22 within the Wick block during 1952. levelled for height in 1954. last maintained by the OS in June 1981. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Parked by south side of public road in SE corner at ND239346. Direct route south along overgrown track. SE corner of grazing field. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces north, ~349°. Vented through south facing sight hole. Full 360° open outlook.

Parked at end of lane in gate entry. Fine coastal views to the south west, somewhat ruined by the towering drilling rig. Pillar perched on bank overlooking derelict farmhouse. Plug still intact. Easy access.

Walked over from Lybster Harbour. Very fine coastal scenery and an oil well next door. Nearby farm abandoned as is often the case in Caithness.

Hogh on a hilside a good puff out of Lybster, there were some nice views out to sea, although otherwise this was hardly exceptional.
