Parked at the Grand Junction Retail Park and took a sunny Friday afternoon walk around the streets of Crewe. From Lime Tree Avenue a path runs around the back of houses near the railway line and I suspect the pillar was in the back garden of possibly number 243.

At Crewe train yard for a broken train this week (makes a change to broken boats) so taking the opportunity after work to do as many as i can after work. Long gone.

Site is now the back garden of a house. The back garden is behind the fence in the photograph. The pillar was destroyed when the housing estate was built back in 1956

What to do when you have an hour's wait between trains in Crewe? Go and see a pillar that you know is not going to be there. It's all exercise anyway.

New garden fence errected around the area

Thanks to the pellet holes in the fence, I could see that it was not in the garden. I got within 5m of the ref, on the corner of the gardens. Crewe-Stockport Railway nearby as well. Houses got the pillar.

Not on the map. Think it was lost to the houses. got to 30ft away but thats the gardens of the house's backing on to the main train line.
