Log #195. Located at corner of two fields, adjacent to Schoolhouse Road in Symington. Parked on Hillview St, and walked east along the road until reaching pillar. The top of the pillar is significantly damaged, with the upper metalwork completely gone. It seems unlikely to have been damaged by farm machinery, so guessing a sloppy job on the OS' part when building. Sheep in the field now, though we kept well clear of each other. FB faces north-east-ish with south-west-ish sighthole open only. Despite the state of the top, the cap is still there with sunken lettering. Nice views all around.

Original visit to record FB number. The pillar was completed 19th June 1949 costing 10.10s.10d. In 1950 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS83/T40 in the Lanark block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1950. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1979. Roadside behind field fence. First ever S5*** series for me.
