Parked in the large layby at the base of the mast road. Work ongoing at the mast so bits and pieces fenced off but trig still accessible.

Short walk accessed via Knockdon forestry road. Nice views at summit.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 3rd June 1954 costing £33.4s.0d. Computed as tertiary station NX29/T27 in 1955. Levelled for height value at pillar top also in 1955. Last maintained by the OS in September 1976. SITE VISIT: Parked in entrance to forest track at NX398986. Vehicle gate locked. Followed track network as shown on map. Comms mast gives an early indication of trig position. Trig pillar away from mast compound. Pillar in fair condition showing numerous surface cracks. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Built without flush bracket. Vented through SW sight hole. Spider leg perpendicular to a pillar edge points 344° NNW. No FB, spider intact, some fine cracks. Went on to the nearby Yeaman at Craig Dhu - a fine little hill, despite the surrounding logging. Clockwise, dropping down to Loch Bradan, then back via Tallaminnoch.

Crazed with shallow cracks but fully intact. Metal cap, deep letters. Built without FB. At summit by little mast compound. Surrounding plantation clear-felled with a few isolated spruces at summit. Easy access from WSW, locked gate.

Trig point shares a hilltop in the Galloway Forest Park with a couple of comms aerials. There is no flush bracket on this trig. Easy access from road to west by forest track. GPS error given as +/- 5m.
