Walked uphill on track. Avoid temptation to climb over fences as there is a gate allowing easy access to this trig point. Shrouded in low clouds missed any potential views.

As with previous visitors parked at the end of the track to the west and a easy walk up a decent track. Field empty which was another bonus. Really good views again, another 7.

Niice.. an opportunist bag as I recognised the pillar's name on a signpost while driving past.. walked the last wee section to a really gifted view.. dark sky pinched a point back. :-( Cemented 'cap' with both southerly sights open.. a wee nibble on the top edge but nothing nasty. A few Birds of prey around.. I heard one as it buzzed me from behind.. I thought one of the Wind turbines had developed a loud fault! :D

Tallentire ..buzzed by a predator. :D

Parked on grass verge at road junc SW of trig. 300m walk on farm track then further 100m across sheep pasture. Pillar found in good condition but slight chipping to one top corner. Very messy cement plug replacing missing cap, also filling one of the loop depressions. Rear and RHD side sight holes open. 360deg hazy views.

Walk up track from crossroads, farmer had rounded up sheep and was busy shearing. Several farmers 4*4 using track. Minor chip missing from pillar. Radar beacon visible in distance.

4/4 As I have a new car, I declined to drive up the track. A very pleasant stroll to the trig and rewarded with superb all round views on a glorious day. Almost a perfect score to round off the day.

HISTORY: Pillar built in November 1949 costing 8.10s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NY11/28 within the Workington block during 1952. Levelled for height in 1971. Last maintained by the OS March 1977. SITE VISIT: Easy parking beside public road opposite bridleway entrance. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces 309 NW. Vented through east and south sight holes. Beautiful location. Excellent views include Lake District, Isle of Man and much of the Dumfries & Galloway skyline.

I also took the plunge an drove up the hill... not so bad there was even a 'car park' to leave the car. Trig to the left, dont do what we did and walk all round the hill.

Sorry not brave enough mick, the track is fairly rugged. Had the bike been in the back it would have made for a nice climb but as it was it was a pleasant stroll at the end of a long day. even a gate to get into the field

A pleasant walk up from the crossroads where here is a handy layby. If you are brave enough you can drive almost all the way to the trig as there is a large layby and sheepfold about two thirds of the way up the track. Excellent views of the Lakes. Plug missing.
