Very misty - hence low score! Never cleared all day. Can imagine the few along Telfit Bank are pretty good. Circular walk from Marske - easy walking and footpath easy to follow. Met 3 trail bikers, who soon left me behind.

Our 2nd trig of the day. Ground nesting birds to include Lapwings and Curlew were in abundance. After a bitterly cold start to the day the afternoon was warm. Trig is located in a tranquil spot that commands panoramic views. Returned to Reeth passing the chert quarries and a man rebuilding a stone wall. A cuppa at the Dales Cycle Centre was a great way to finish the day.

Slightly weathered but good nick. Great wide open views of Lower Swaledale and back of Fremington Edge. Bagged boxing day 2018 as part of a circular from the Markse road. Easily accessible via track from roadside.

Set off from Marske. Pillar has a fairly large chip at top RH of FB face - open spider. Nice views, can see Richmond to the E. Construction of grouse butts near to trig, though no work taking place today.

Visited on 9 Trig day out with P61,boggy track great views spoke to Bridgeman in passing on way up.First Trigger I have come across on all my travels in past 6yrs.

visited while exploring Marske Beck Valley, Orgate Force and the packhorse bridge at Telfit are well worth a look. as is the very impressive deep ruts in the track from Helwith up to the moor, 4x4’s and motorbikes out in force today deepening the ruts to a depth of about five feet !

HISTORY: Pillar completed 10th February 1948 costing £10.12s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NZ42/T68 in 1948. Levelled for height also in 1948. Last maintained by the OS in November 1980. SITE VISIT: Overall approach from north. Parked on grass by west side of road at NZ076031. Continued down road past farm over bridge then steep climb following mapped paths to top. Heather and grass grazing moor. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces southeast, ~143°. Four sight holes open, innards filled with debris.

Visible and accessible being just off foot path. I parked near Helwith and just walked up and down the track. Pillar in good condition although the plug has been removed at some time in the past. Some lovely views from this pillar.

Yorkshire. There is a small chip in the top and the plug is missing but I still grade its condition as good. Came up with my daughter in mild but blowy conditions.
